Snow and Narcissus
Rachel Agosto-Ginsburg, Grade 9, Cherry Hill High School East
The narcissus unfolds
Like a chick breaking free
Yellow and white.
White and brown
The lump of dirty snow
Clings desperately to life.
Spring and winter
Inches from each other
Shining youth and grimy age.
Together, they echo
The calamity that named the flower
The pain and the sorrow.
Yet together they are
More beautiful
Than they could be alone.
