Peach Pits and Prosperity
Joseph Tozzi, Grade 12, Cherry Hill High School West
Opportunity is plucked from the open fields of the future
Rotten with self pity
Envious of those who had workers pick the bounty for themselves
I set out for the fields before sunrise
I found myself wicker basket befuddled
Every fruit pulled turned out useless
Soft with the inability of greatness
Until I laid fingertips on its propitious fuzz
I held the basket around my shoulder
Peaches turned to stone
Sweat-stained
I Bit into the sweetness of success
I cracked a tooth
My alarm was set for the same time tomorrow
